Re: Add-A-Sidewalk Capital Funding
Dear Council Member Lee:
I agree with the proposal outlined in the https://addasidewalk.org/ website.
Please provide Capital Funding for the proposed Sidewalk Project around Douglaston Golf Course that extends the length of Commonwealth Boulevard leading to the Frank Padavan Campus.
It is much safer for all pedestrians to walk on the sidewalk than on the street.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

Dear Queens Borough President Richards Jr.,
I am writing to ask for your support to fund and construct a sidewalk around the Douglaston Golf Course. This includes Commonwealth Boulevard from Marathon Parkway down to the Frank Padavan Education Campus and along 61st Avenue in Little Neck, Queens.
There are several reasons why this important:
1) Without a sidewalk, residents have no choice other than to walk in the street which is fundamentally unsafe for pedestrians. You can help solve this problem.
2) More people are walking for health and fitness, increasing longevity, and reducing medical care expenses. Providing a walkway along Commonwealth Blvd and 61st Avenue on the perimeter of Douglaston Golf Course would provide a new and enjoyable path for fitness walks in Little Neck, Queens with positive impact.
3) Lastly, the New York City Administrative Code § 19-152 “Duties and obligations of property owner with respect to sidewalks and lots” indicates that property owners are responsible for sidewalk installation and repair. As far as we know, New York City owns the Douglaston Golf Course property and should fix this.
Thank you for supporting the construction of this sidewalk in Queens. It seems to be a win-win for everyone involved.
Sincerely,
